How do I improve my surfing speed? Windows uses something called Virtual Memory to act as an increase in the RAM your computer has by using some space on your hard disk as temporary storage for data that may normally be stored in RAM. In this way Windows can provide extra resources to run programs, and help your computer work more smoothly. WARNING: Your virtual memory settings are already set by default. Before you make any changes, write down the current settings in case you need to restore them. - Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop, and then click Properties.
- Click the Performance tab.
- Click Virtual Memory, and then click Let me specify my own virtual memory settings.
- Click the hard disk that you want to use for virtual memory, and then select the minimum and maximum amounts of virtual memory.
- Click OK, click OK, and then restart your computer.
Note: We recommend that you enter the same number for both the Initial and Maximum size fields. If you need to restore the original settings, just repeat the steps to change the virtual memory, and check the option next to click Let Windows manage my virtual memory settings (Recommended). | |
