What is Juno Mail?

With a Juno Mail, you can use your personal computer to send and receive email through the Juno software. You can read or write email while you are offline and download messages to your computer. Once messages are downloaded from the Mail Server to your computer, they are no longer available online and cannot be viewed from another location.

What is Email on the Web?

When you access your Email on the Web, you are actually visiting a special Web page on the Internet, accessible from anywhere around the world, that links to your Juno email account. The system is already set up for you to quickly send and receive email, and has the added benefits of enhanced security features such as Junk Mail Filters and Sort & Delete Settings to help you weed through unwanted mail.

What is Juno MegaMail?

Juno MegaMail, Juno's newest service option for Platinum and Juno SpeedBand members, is a premium email service that can enhance your Juno Email on the Web experience. It can only be used with Email on the Web. It does not apply to your Juno software.

Platinum email service, which is bundled with our Platinum and Juno SpeedBand Internet access, provides more storage space and other benefits above our standard, free email service. Juno MegaMail further enhances your email experience by including even more storage space, a larger block list, larger maximum attachment size, more Sort & Delete Settings, and Mail Forwarding.

Juno MegaMail only applies to Juno Email on the Web, which is separate from Juno's internal email program. You will need to connect to the Web through the Juno software and access Email on the Web to take advantage of Juno MegaMail's benefits.

What are the differences between Juno Mail and Email on the Web?

What is the relationship between messages stored on Juno Email on the Web and Juno Mail?

All Juno members have a single "mailbox" where all incoming email messages are stored. This mailbox exists on Juno's central computers, which is also known as a "Mail Server." The contents of the Juno mailbox are separate from the messages stored on your home computer through the Juno software.

When Juno members access Juno Email on the Web, they are essentially accessing their mailbox on Juno's Mail Server. Any messages they delete on Email on the Web get deleted from Juno's Mail Server.

When Juno members log in to the Juno software and check their mail, they are transferring all messages from their mailbox on Juno's Mail Server. These downloaded messages are permanently erased from Juno's Mail Server.

Writing or composing a new message with Juno Mail and Juno Email on the Web

The procedure for writing new messages with Juno Mail and Email on the Web is slightly differently.

To write a new message in Juno Mail:

1. Launch Juno.
2. Log in to your account by clicking the Email button.
3. Click the Write tab.

4. Compose your message.
5. When done, click Send Mail.

To write a new message in Juno Email on the Web:

1. Launch Juno
2. Log in to your account by clicking the World Wide Web button.
3. Access Email on the Web by visiting http://mail.juno.com
4. Click the light-blue Write tab on the top of the toolbar.

Note: This is separate from the Write tab with the pen-symbol in the upper left corner of the screen! Remember that Juno Email on the Web requires a Web connection through Juno.

5. Compose your message.
6. When done, click the Send button.

Why do my messages disappear?

It is possible for messages to "disappear" from Email on the Web if you check your mail through the Juno software. Once you check your mail with the Juno software, the messages that were previously being stored on Juno's Mail Server (and viewable through Email on the Web) are transferred from the Mail Server to your home computer. Your mailbox on the Mail Server is considered empty, and no messages will appear in Email on the Web.

It is important to note, however, that only messages stored in the Email on the Web Inbox folder are downloaded to a member's home computer. It is therefore possible to create a custom folder (such as "Personal") to store messages you never want transferred to your home computer. For more information about this feature, click here.

1. A member who has 3 messages in their Inbox checks their mail using Email on the Web:

2. The member then checks their mail using the Juno software, which transfers the 3 messages from their Inbox to their computer:

3. Afterwards, the member checks their mail again with Email on the Web:

4. Looking at Email on the Web, there are no messages in the Inbox anymore. The 3 messages from the Inbox have been transferred to the member's home computer.
