Error - Juno was unable to transfer your mail from the Juno central computers (Juno 5.0)

If you are having trouble getting or sending mail and receive this message, it could be for one of the following reasons:

  • Check the speed of your modem to make sure that it is at least a 9600 bps or faster modem. If it is not 9600 bps or faster, you may consider upgrading your modem.

  • If you get this error message during nonpeak hours, you may be missing the "get" and "put" mail folders for your account on your computer. You will have to create these folders yourself.

  • There may be a temporary problem with the access number you are using. Try changing your access number and then connect to Juno again.

  • If the problem persists, your modem may not be configured properly. You should review your modem configuration.

Creating the special mail folders

Each Juno account on your computer has its own USERxxxx folder. This USERxxxx folder stores the folders you need to get and send mail. If they're missing, you have to recreate them in your USERxxxx folder.

To create the "get" and "put" folders in your USERxxxx folder:

  1. Click the Windows Start button, point to Programs, point to Juno, then click Juno System Information.

  2. A text file will appear that contains information about your computer's resources and files that Juno needs to function. Scroll to the section labeled [Juno Users]. This section contains the name and location of the USERxxxx folders for each Juno account on your computer and will look like this:

    [Juno Users]
    • username1=C:\Program Files\Juno\USER0000
    • username2=C:\Program Files\Juno\USER0001
    • username3=C:\Program Files\Juno\USER0002

  3. In this section, find the line of text that contains the user name for the account you're having trouble with. For example, the line could look like this: yourusername=C:\Program Files\Juno\USER0002. In this example, your USERxxxx folder name is USER0002 and it is located in the Juno subfolder of the Program Files folderon your computer.

  4. Write the location of your USERxxxx folder (which is the text after the equal sign) on a piece of paper. So, for the above example, you would write C:\Program Files\Juno\USER0002.

  5. Use My Computer or Windows Explorer to locate your USERxxxx folder on your computer. If you need to, refer to the location you previously wrote down.

  6. Open your USERxxxx folder. If it doesn't contain a "get" and "put" folder, you will have to create them. To do this:
  1. Go to the File menu, point to New, and click Folder.
  2. A New Folder will appear in the window. In place of New Folder, type get
  3. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to create the put folder.

To update and change access numbers in Juno 2.0 or later:

  1. Go to the Connection menu, click Access Number Setup, then Selection.
  2. Click Next on each of the dialing set up screens until you get to the Update Numbers screen.
  3. On the Update Numbers screen, click Get New Access Number List. Juno will dial a toll-free number to connect to its central computers and then download an up-to-date list of access numbers.
  4. After Juno has downloaded the latest access number list, click Next to select your new access numbers.

To review your modem configuration in Juno 3.0 or later:

  1. Go to the Connection menu and select Configure Modem.
  2. If you see your modem listed in the Modems list of the ConfigureModems screen, select it and click OK. Juno will be set to recognize and use your modem.
  3. If you don't see your modem, click Manage Modems.
  4. On the Modems Properties screen, click Add.
  5. Click Next to have Windows automatically detect your modem. If Windows can detect your modem, click OK and then click OK again to go back to Juno.
  6. If Windows cannot detect your modem, click Change.
  7. In the Manufacturers list, select the name of your modem manufacturer. If the manufactureris not listed, select (Standard Modem Types) from the top of the list.
  8. In the Models list, select your modem model and click Next. If it is not listed, select the modem that is most similar to your modem.
  9. Select the port to use with your modem and click Next. If you are not sure which port your modem is on, select All ports to have Windows detect the correct one.
  10. Once your modem is successfully added, click Finish and click Close.

To review your modem configuration in Juno 2.0:

  1. Go to the Connection menu and select Modem Setup.
  2. Click Automatic Modem Setup to have Juno set up your modem automatically or click Manual Modem Setup to set up your modem yourself.

If you are using an RPI modem without the proper drivers, you may see an error message that mentions the "Rockwell Protocol Interface." If you purchased your modem separately from your computer, you should have also received the driver software on a floppy disk. If not, you should contact either your computer or modem manufacturer to obtain the drivers.

You can check for the following files on your computer to determine whether or not the RPI drivers are already installed on your system:

  • C:\Windows\System\rokrpish.vxd
  • C:\Windows\System\rokhook.vxd
  • C:\Windows\System\rokv42.vxd

If these files are somewhere else on your system, move them to the correct folder and restart the computer before trying Juno again. Once you have the RPI drivers installed on your computer, you should be able to connect to Juno.
