Error - Please wait while Juno is verifying your email folders

The error Please wait while Juno is verifying your email folders appears when Juno detects a file corruption that can damage your mailbox.

To ensure you don't lose your email, Juno automatically gathers all your messages and moves them into a folder called Restored. If this file gets corrupted, Juno may not be able to restore your messages.

To resolve this problem perform these troubleshooting steps in the following order.

A. Copy the USER folder to your Desktop.

  1. Right-click the Juno icon on your desktop and select Properties.
  2. Click the Shortcut tab, and write down the path (i.e. C:\Program Files\Juno\bin\juno.exe).
  3. Click the My Computer icon on your Desktop, and go to the correct folder (in this example it is C:\Program files\Juno).
  4. If you find more than one USER folder, you can identify the userID for each one by double-clicking JUNO.INI located in the Lib folder. (This file opens in Notepad and the email address will appear under "[UserInfo]")
  5. Right-click the user folder for the problem account and select Copy.
  6. Minimize the window, right-click on an open section of your Desktop, and select Paste to copy the USER folder to your Desktop.

B. Backup you account information.

To back up your account:

  1. Click the Windows Start button and select Programs or All Programs
  2. Select Juno and click on Juno Backup Wizard.
  3. Click the Back Up icon, select the location of the copy of Juno you want to back up (For example: C:\Juno5.0) and click Next.
  4. Select the account(s) you wish to back up and click Next.
  5. Check the boxes next to the data you'd like to back up from the account(s), and click Next.
  6. Check the circle next to the location where you would like to save this data (by default this is set as Save to Desktop), and then click Next.
  7. The window that appears will show the name and the path of the Juno backup folder Write this down for future reference, then click Finish.

C. Delete your account.

  1. Double-click the Juno icon and click on the Delete Account button in the Welcome to Juno screen.
  2. Type in the name of the account you wish to delete or click the drop-down box and select your account.
  3. Chose whether to delete the account from just this computer by selecting Just this computer, or from Juno's central computers and this computer by choosing Juno's central computers and this computer (permanent account deletion)

NOTE: Be sure to choose Just this computer. Accounts deleted from the Juno central computers cannot be re-created (i.e., the username cannot be used again by you or anyone else).

  1. Enter your password.
  2. Click OK.

After an account is deleted, the Welcome Screen is displayed. Click Import account, and follow the on-screen instructions.

D. Re-Import your account.

  1. Make sure that you have enabled remote access for your account.
    • Start Juno on the computer where remote access was first disabled.
    • From the Options menu, select Password and Security.
    • In the Password and Security dialog box, under Security make sure the option Allow access to my account from other computers box is checked.
    • Click OK.
  2. Start Juno and click on Import Account.
  3. Follow the Import Account wizard to import your account. If you need help on a particular screen of the wizard, click the Help button located in the lower-left corner of the screen.

E. Restore the backed-up data.

In order to restore your USER information you need to run the Juno Backup Wizard again, but this time select the Restore icon and follow these instructions:

  1. Enter the path where the user information is stored and click Next.
  2. Select the copy of Juno in which you want to restore the backed up data, and click Next.
  3. Select the accounts into which you would want to insert the backup (to select multiple accounts hold down the Ctrl or Shift key while clicking with the mouse).
  4. You can restore any/all of the following: Email messages and folders, Address Book, Preferences, Custom spellcheck dictionary, and External Email settings.
  5. If you don't want to restore the same information for all the members, uncheck the box next to Restore the same data for each subsequent user.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Once the restoration is complete, click Finish.

NOTE: To back up or restore information, you must have Juno 5.0. Versions earlier than 5.0 cannot back up or restore through the Juno Backup Wizard.

This should restore your mail folders and address books. However, if you are unable to view your mail folders, it is possible that Juno was not able to restore the data due to extensive file corruption. If this is the case, you will be unable to recover the information.

However, to rule out any corruption within the Juno software causing difficulty in restoring data, we suggest that you try the following steps to import your folders.

  1. Start Juno, click File, and select Manage Email Folders.
  2. Click Import Folder.
  3. Locate and highlight the USER folder you copied to your desktop and click OK.
  4. Select the folders you wish to import.
